History

Since the company was founded in 1983, Ben Dawson has become one of the most respected furniture designers & manufacturers in the UK. We combine traditional furniture-making skills with computer-aided design and computer controlled machining. Based just outside Edinburgh we enjoy close working relationships with clients throughout the UK, across Europe and in the Middle East and the USA.

Approach

Our approach is essentially flexible. We can work from an open brief or an architect's vision on the one hand to detailed specifications or technical drawings on the other. Uniquely, we can also take one of our standard collections as a starting point and tailor individual pieces to suit our client's specific requirements.

Projects may begin in different ways, but they always arrive at the same conclusion - furniture that fulfils an architectural scheme through seamless integration or dramatic standout. Furniture that is as beautiful as it is practical.

Expertise

Whether it is a special one-off commission or a variation of one of our standard collections, each piece of furniture is tailored to the individual customer’s specific requirements. Designs are visualised using three-dimensional computer models which are in turn developed into detailed production drawings. As-built records are retained indefinitely should matching pieces be required in the future.
